The Penn State Symposium for Teaching and Learning with Technology is both an annual event and a year-round online discussion of ways that faculty are using technology to enhance teaching, learning, and research.

This session gives an easy-to-understand view of the issues surrounding copyright and intellectual property, and describes several options for using works while at the same time staying within legal guidelines. It will cover open attribution, Creative Commons (CC) licensing, GNU licensing, and fair use, as well as open content.
Emerging digital technologies can play an important role in enabling scholars to put their training to use in publicly beneficial ways. Two digital publishing projects that create opportunities for students and collaborators from outside the academy to engage with scholarship relevant to matters of wider public concern.
We will share our experience with using a virtual walk-in clinic simulation, called Time & Patient$, along with Yammer discussions to engage and motivate the first cohort of our online MHA program. Results of our survey, student comments and a demo of the simulation will be provided.
