Deficits in reading skills and negative or naïve dispositions towards learning can seriously impact students’ success in the first year of college. Adaptive learning technology and the Effective Lifelong Learning Inventory (ELLI) were used with students in a paired developmental reading/environmental science course to improve first year student success rates.
